Warrens Wine of the Week - 18th May 2012
This Friday we feature "Smith and Hooper Merlot"
Tasting notes:
Matured for 11 months in a combination of 7% new French oak Barriques and 16% one year old French oak Barriques with the balance in older French oak Barriques & Hogsheads.
Deep dark red purple colour with deep dark red mauve hue. The nose is quite perfumed displaying lifted aromas of ripe plum, mulberry and spicy cedar. Medium to full bodied displaying excellent weight and richness. Flavours of ripe plum, mulberry and spice followed by some tobacco and cedar back palate flavours. Fine grained tannins. Spicy mulberry and tobacco aftertaste.

Why not try our awesome Beer of the Month, 'Great Northern Brewing Co' an original local beer!
Great Northern Brewing Co. is produced by Carlton United Brewers and was named in tribute to there first ever Queensland based brewing operation, the Great Northern Brewery in Cairns acquired in 1931. Back then, beer was made locally for locals. The brewery has since gone, but the concept of drinking local made beer lives on in Great Northern Brewing Co. This beer is brewed longer for a super crisp and refreshing full strength lager.
It is also available for $42.99 a carton at any of our Grand Hotel owned Celebrations outlets. |
